About
Nolan Alighieri
The Musician & Sound Guy
Deeply influenced by early electronic dance music, jazz, and metal, I've been creating unique sonic experiences for over 15 years.
I got my start when I showed a drunk friend a song I built during the 30 day demo period of Mixcraft 4. He handed me his credit card and told me "you're gonna go far".
During my early years I created under the "Mr. Flyte" name before later assuming "The Nephilim Novel" alias that I create under now.
Upon completion of my 2021 album, Believe, I transitioned to using Reaper.
Many of my favorite and unreleased songs can be found in the playlist down below. The social media buttons have some older tracks I do not spotlight here in my portfolio.
My music might just 4-on-the-floor its way into your heart❤️

MUSIC
Fidel & The Sunday Shuffle
A moderate tempo jazz song that strongly establishes the main Fidel motif and expands on it with a nylon guitar, pizzicato strings, rhythmic piano chords, vibraphone, and brush drum kit. The song creates a "daily routine" atmosphere with a cute sense of playfulness.
Fidel & It's Finally Friday
An upbeat electronic song that evolves the Fidel motif into a dance-able melody using booming 909-inspired drums, grooving analogue bass, sharp and reverberating disco piano stabs, and bright and bouncing mono-square leads. The song creates a fun and lively atmosphere while retaining Fidel's signature 'cuteness'.
Fidel & Her Imagination
A jazzy 7/8 time electronic song, evolving the Fidel motif in a playful and energetic way using synthesized filter-swept drums, asynchopated rising-and-falling bass, rapid synth arpeggios, and a mono-triangle lead. The song creates a sense of hyperactivity, a sugar-rush of emotions.
PSYCHE
A strange and haunting song created using pots and pans, whispers, and screams. It moves through various melodies with various instruments and sounds as to capture the diverse and complex nature of the emotions that swirl through our mind.
Fidel & Motivation
A powerful and dramatic fusion of orchestral jazz and electronica, featuring booming Drum n' Bass rhythms, a wide digital synth palette, bright pop piano, floating strings, and ethereal choir. The song gives a sense of struggle in a forlorn world.
SOUND
Monster Screams
When designing monster screams I use a variety of sources, including sampled audio layers, designed audio layers (including FX processing and synthesis), and field recordings that match the intent of the monster -- for example, a mechanical dragon has mechanic noises. A rock golem has crumbly rock sounds.
Designed Sounds
These sounds primarily use synthesis and FX processing. Commonly, Massive is used for a lot of the synthesized sounds, with a combination of various distortion, clipping, and compression FX to create the desired sound.
Musical Sounds
These sounds match the key of the game's soundtrack. All sounds are derived from Kontakt libraries and are used to create a thematic sonic texture, lending am unmistakable and unique identity to the game
Various Mixed Sounds
These sounds are typically derived from multiple layers of pre-made, existing sound effects (downloaded from a royalty free repository) as well as a mix of home recorded sounds. These sounds are blended together to create a new sound so that the end result feels unique and fits the mood of the target game.
All backing songs are featured in the Fidel & The Pauper's Paradox soundtrack
Fidel & The Abundance of Music
As a musician who has been creating music for over 15 years, it should go without saying that I have more music than I can reasonably spotlight without expanding this page to be kilometers in length. Every single song has a story to how it came to be, but I unfortunately cannot describe each and every one. Below is a playlist of a variety of my favorite songs whether they are released or not -- sorted in reverse chronological order (most recent first).
